COACH : FRAKA

Hello Derby World ,

I’m Vincent or well known as Fraka which is my derby name as player and referee in my current team, the Ghost Valley. And I coach with Gus since last year, the women’s roller derby team of Switzerland.

I started roller derby in 2013 as NSO, then ref and the year after, cofounded with other players the first men’s roller derby team in Lyon which is actually the Lumières. As a person of challenges and always in search for personal evolution and performance, i played with the Italian national team at Barcelona world cup 2018, which was a crazy but learnful experience. And before 2020 sends all of us to the restrooms, experienced the highest level of roller derby in France with the Elite championship.

My last challenge (but not least) in that sport is to build a team and share all the skills and experience I acquired during those past years. And to coach this team with all of the staff is like writing a new page of the swiss derby history, so I’m honoured to take part of this adventure.

Coach : Gus

My name is Jeremy or Gus. Before roller derby, I played ice hockey for 18 years, which helped me a lot in my skating and movement in the derby, so I already had a good background. I started derby in 2016 with the Devotchkas in Neuchâtel. It's where I train and coach, and I'm proud to have helped build the club and to be its president today.

As there was no men's team in Switzerland, I had to go and train elsewhere until I was invited to join the men's roller derby team from Mâcon, the Bandits Machos. In this team I was able to take my first steps in the French championship in 2017 : 1 year in Élite and 2 years in national 1, then the team disbanded.

In 2019, I'm joining a new team in Dijon, the Burgundy Derby Crew, which plays in the men's National 1 championship. I play with them for 4 years. Then, in 2023, I'll join the Wolfgang of Orcet in the Elite championship. I'm looking forward to this experience.

2022 was a year with a lot of new challenges. In September, the Voodoo Vixens of Besançon put their trust in me to coach them for the National 2 championship. And I'm proud to continue to do so.

And together with a few other people, we plan to re-establish a Swiss women's team. With the new challenge of co-coaching this Swiss team. After a few try-out training sessions, we now have a team that trains together and is slowly coming together. See you at the next World Cup.

At the end of 2022, I'm invited to take part in my first French Men's Team training weekend, and the adventure continues. I can't wait to see how far it takes me.
